2 New Black Belts
On Saturday 25th August 2007 Martial Arts Incorporated held a belt grading at their Dublin 7 Studio. There were 30 men, women and children going for various coloured belts and 2 people going for Black Belt. Keith Quinn (left) and Michael Burke (right) successfully passed their Black Belts grades along with all the other successful students. Both Black Belts went through a hard test which took over 5 hours and consisted of several hundred strikes and kicks, techniques and sparring. They had to spar 1, 2 and 3 opponents at a time. Keith and Michael knew everything inside and out and passed with flying colours. They have been training at M.A.I. for many years now and this achievement was a culmination of all their hard efforts. What's next for them? "I am more enthusiastic then ever to train and I want to continue to improve and work towards my Second Dan Black Belt," Burke said, "Yes, and we are greatly looking forward to helping and training our students to achieve what we sometimes thought might not be possible," Keith added. Grading chief instructors Declan Kidd and Robert Devane are ecstatic about how the club has grown over the years. "Since opening here 7 years ago, we now have 10 Black Belts," Sensei Kidd said, "And all of them continue to train hard and are committed to teaching. We are very proud of them," Sensei Devane concluded.
